Hi everyone,
Founder :iconinfernalord: here.
I am sad to inform all of you that a couple of days ago our friend and admin Gawrila Ghul :icongawrilaghul: has been banned from dA!
https://www.deviantart.com/gawrilaghul
The reason for this? He made a lousy and unfortunate joke in the ThumbHub chatroom which apparently offended some snowflake mods who already didn't like him, providing them with an excuse to banish GawrilaGhul from this community.
Weird? Yeah. Exquisite? That also. Sometimes annoying? Maybe. Maybe he wasn't the easiest going person around here, but I've never seen him being rude, racist or whatever motive that gets you banned in here. But he sure was dedicated and more importantly: an active member of this "turned out to be kiddies play" of a website. He's been banned for 18 years (until Jan 2038!) and should see his account terminated for good in a few days. With no chance to even create a new account.
These are pretty sad news, coming from a community which has always preached and bragged about being open-minded and liberal.
I've been a deviant for 15 years now, I used to be here all the time, spent countless hours commenting on other people's art, requesting critiques. Goddamnit, I created this group and look at how big it got! But then this started to fall apart, the people who run this were incompetent at making the website survive the test of today's social media style-driven internet experience.
Where is dA headed? I see porn submitted every single day here, and it takes them more time to banish those account. I see racist content here. And you ban one annoying dude because he made a childish joke? Where are your standards, dA staff team?
I am not trying to start a riot or anything, but the people in charge should really think about this and maybe figure out that they overreacted, also by cutting off any chance of appeal by being <i>"unable to lift the suspension"</i> (quoting mod @ddlv1988 here) even after he apologized God knows how many times. Comment your feelings about this, and share this post if possible, even if it doesn't bring :iconDasGhul: back, at least let's have his story told.
